Sixers set to add another veteran in Reggie Jackson – NBC Sports Philadelphia

CAMDEN, NJ — The Sixers are set to add another veteran point guard behind Tyrese Maxey.

Reggie Jackson plans to rejoin the team after his contract is bought out by the Hornets, a source confirmed to John Clark of NBC Sports Philadelphia. ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski was first to report the news.

Jackson, 34, played in all 82 games last season with the Nuggets and averaged 10.2 points, 3.8 assists and 1.9 rebounds.

He won an NBA championship as a member of the Nuggets in 2022-23. Prior to that, Jackson was teammates with Paul George on the Clippers.

Jackson was traded to Charlotte in early July as part of a six-team deal that included the Sixers sending Buddy Hield to the Warriors via trade. Once Jackson clears waivers, he will be free to sign with the Sixers.

The Sixers also have Kyle Lowry (38) and Eric Gordon (35) as backups. They selected a much younger combo guard this year, Jared McCain (20), a Duke product.

After signing Jackson, the Sixers will have 13 players under standard NBA contracts, two short of the maximum.

They filled their three positions with two-way contracts with Justin Edwards, David Jones and Jeff Dowtin Jr.
