New Alpine Slide Opens at Crystal Mountain

THOMPSONVILLE, MI – Crystal Coaster fans, the wait is over. Crystal Mountain’s new dual-track alpine slide has opened for the summer.

The newly installed roller coaster features tunnels, dips, curves and hills – and the dual-track design might just allow riders a little friendly competition on the way down.

For more than 15 summers, the Crystal Coaster has been a staple at Crystal Mountain Ski Resort near Thompsonville. Now that the twisting slide has been redesigned to a retro two-lane design, the fun of the ride can be multiplied.

The coolest thing is that you take a chairlift to reach the starting point of the roller coaster.

“The ride up is almost as much fun as the ride down,” resort staff said. “Taking the Loki chairlift to the top of the mountain gives you spectacular views of four counties. Then, you’ll ride down one of two new 1,600-foot curved runs in a specially designed sled.”

“You control your speed through every dip, turn and tunnel.”

The double-lane Alpine Slide is open daily through Labor Day. It will also be open weekends in September and October.

You can buy tickets on foot at the resort’s mountain adventure area. You can also buy them online in advance.

Tickets can be purchased individually, in packs of four or as an unlimited day pass.

Participants must be at least 3 years old. Anyone under 52 inches tall must be accompanied by a paying adult.

If you’re heading to Crystal Mountain for an overnight getaway or just for the day and want to make the most of those daylight hours, check out the resort’s new activity packs. They bundle a variety of outdoor activities into one price.

Action Packs are valid until August 30. See details here.

“This one-day package includes your choice of unlimited downhill slide rides or unlimited climbing on the climbing wall,” the resort said. “Both include unlimited bungee trampoline jumps, a disc golf rental and a two-hour bike rental.”
