Google Photos adds Documents view to the web

After rolling out some Material 3 changes, Google Photos on the web is adding the “Documents” section already available on Android and iOS.

Launched on the mobile app in November, you’ll now find “Documents” in the Library alongside Favorites, Albums, Utilities, Archives, Locked Folders, and Trash. The drop-down menu shows three of the main collections and a link to “Show All Documents.”

Like the carousel on mobile, this can include “automatic albums” — which offer “Archive after 30 days” — for screenshots, books and magazines, event information, identity, notes, payment methods, receipts, recipes and menus, and social networks.

You can also access this grid by searching for “Documents” or directly at photos.google.com/u/0/documents.

The addition of Google Photos to the web is a nice step forward that reflects the way people take photos of important documents, with Ask Photos, powered by Gemini, serving as another way to access that information in a conversational way in the future. Meanwhile, Google Wallet is also adding a feature that lets you save important documents as passes.
