by Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk has said he was “tricked” into giving consent for his child to take puberty blockers, adding that he believes the “awakened mind virus” figuratively killed his son.
Musk made the comment during an interview with Dr. Jordan Peterson on Monday after he was asked what he thought of doctors performing gender reassignments. procedures on children, a practice that Musk and Peterson have both called “evil.”
Musk said his experience with his child Xavier, who now goes by the name Vivian Jenna Wilson, has had his eyes opened to what he calls “the awakened mind virus,” which he has since vowed to “destroy.”
“It happened to one of my older sons, where I was brought in to sign some paperwork for one of my older sons, Xavier. This was before I understood what was going on. COVID was going on, so there was a lot of confusion and I was told that Xavier could kill himself if he didn’t do it…” Musk told Peterson.
“It was a lie from the start,” Peterson retorted.
“This is incredibly evil, and I agree with you that the people who promoted this should go to jail,” Musk responded.
Elon Musk said he wasn’t told puberty blockers were “really just sterilization drugs” when he agreed to have his son undergo the treatment. He called the term “gender-affirming care” a “terrible euphemism.”
“I lost my son, basically. It’s not called deadnaming for nothing,” Musk said.
“The reason it’s called ‘deadnaming’ is because your son is dead. My son Xavier is dead, killed by the awakened mind virus.”
Puberty blockers have been shown to cause long-term fertility problems in boys, according to a preliminary Mayo Clinic study published earlier this year. The study found that the effects of puberty blockers can be permanent, contradicting claims that such effects can be reversed.
After a long pause, Musk added: “I vowed to destroy the waking mind virus after this.”
Vivian Musk came out as transgender in June 2022. Around the same time, the then 18-year-old filed a request to change her name from Xavier to Vivian and take her mother’s last name, the Daily Mail reported.
“I don’t want to have any connection with my biological father in any way,” Vivian said at the time.
Elon Musk’s promise to take on the “woke” left likely inspired his latest decision to move SpaceX’s California headquarters to Texas, after Gov. Gavin Newsom signed a bill that would prohibit school districts from informing parents if their child uses different pronouns or identifies as a different gender than what is listed on school records.
“This is the straw that broke the camel’s back,” Musk wrote on his social media platform X, explaining his decision.
“Because of this law and many others that have come before it, attacking both families and businesses, SpaceX will now move its headquarters from Hawthorne, California to Starbase, Texas.”
